An introductory workshop into the making of a rag doll (approx. 33 cms) complete with dress and underwear. You will gain confidence and skills in a relaxed and friendly learning environment. In order to avoid disappointment, it is advisable to enrol at least 2½ weeks prior to the course starting. We will confirm course information two weeks prior to the start date.
During the course you will make a rag doll using hand, machine, and embroidery techniques.How to measure and cut out accurately and safely. How to construct the body and attach the hair. How to follow pattern and sewing instructions to make a dress, briefs, camisole top and petticoat for the doll. Cover basic hand, machine sewing (please bring your machine, if you have one and manual) and embroidery techniques.Please do not buy any materials until your course is confirmed as running.Materials for the Rag Doll will be provided, but you will need to bring the following with you:Basic sewing equipment: Fabric scissors, paper scissors, embroidery scissors, colour-headed pins, hand sewing needles, tape measure, tailors chalk, fabric marking pen and tacking thread. 30cm/12” ruler, small safety pins and knitting needle. Low tack tape.Please bring lunch with you.Free parking.
