A one-day workshop making a range of small decorative gifts items for Christmas. Choose from a range of fun items to make, such as bunting, hanging ornaments, mini tote or wreath, and a small decorative panel. You will gain confidence and skills in a relaxed and friendly learning environment.
In order to avoid disappointment, it is advisable to enrol at least 2½ weeks prior to the course starting. We will confirm course information two weeks prior to the start date.
During the workshop you will make a range of small items in fabric and felt using hand, machine, and embroidery sewing techniques.
1. How to measure and cut out accurately and safely.2. How to choose patterns and buy suitable fabrics.3. How to follow pattern instructions to make a small range of items. 4. Cover basic sewing and embroidery techniques.
You may bring your sewing machine, should you wish to use it (along with the manual).
Please do not buy any materials until your course is confirmed as running.
Basic sewing equipment you will need to bring with you: Fabric scissors, paper scissors, embroidery scissors, rotary cutter and cutting board (if you have these). Pinking shears (if you have them), colour-headed pins, hand sewing needles, tape measure, tailors chalk, marking pen and tacking thread. 30cm/12” ruler and any patchwork rulers and templates that you may already have.
Please bring lunch with you.Tea/Coffee are available to make, with a small charge. To reduce the use of single-use plastic water bottles/cups, there is a watercooler on site making it easy to refill your water bottle.Free parking.
