A one-day workshop making an Advent Calendar or a Christmas Stocking for Christmas. You will gain confidence and skills in a relaxed and friendly learning environment.
In order to avoid disappointment, it is advisable to enrol at least 2½ weeks prior to the course starting. We will confirm course information two weeks prior to the start date.
During the workshop you will make a fabric and felt Advent Calendar or a Christmas Stocking sewing them together using various machine, hand and embroidery sewing techniques.
1. How to measure and cut out accurately and safely.2. How to choose patterns and buy suitable fabrics. 3. How to follow pattern instructions to make your item. 4. Cover basic hand sewing and embroidery techniques.
Choose from one of the following to make during the workshop. Materials will be provided for your project.
A Hanging Advent Calendar or A Christmas stocking to hang over the mantel piece.
You may bring you own sewing machine, should you wish to use it (along with the manual)
Please do not buy any materials until your course is confirmed as running.
Basic sewing equipment to bring with you: Fabric scissors, paper scissors, embroidery scissors, rotary cutter and cutting board (if you have these). Colour-headed pins, hand sewing needles, tape measure, tailors chalk, marking pen and tacking thread. 30cm/12” ruler and any patchwork rulers and templates that you may already have. Please bring lunch with you.Tea/Coffee are available to make, with a small charge. To reduce the use of single-use plastic water bottles/cups, there is a watercooler on site making it easy to refill your water bottle.Free parking.
