It is planned that this course will be running online, using Teams, for the Autumn Term. This may change, depending on Government guidelines.
The Intermediate course is for those who have completed the improvers course with the college or for those who consider themselves competent at this level. You will already be able to cope in a range of situations using the present and past tenses and cases of nouns and pronouns although you may require further practice with this.
The programme of the Russian Intermediate course includes the following topics: arranging meeting and going out, telling the time, going to the doctor’s, parts of the body; going shopping, colours and sizes; travelling by train; talking about work and leisure; describing people and objects; air travel; expressing the date. The Russian intermediate course introduces the following grammar points: future tenses (perfective and imperfective), cases of adjectives in singular and plural, superlative adjectives, verb prefixes, verbs of motion and the conditional mood. At the beginning of the course you will be revising cases of nouns and pronouns, conjugation of verbs, ordinal numbers, verb aspects, comparative adjectives and adverbs. By the end of the course you will be able to make arrangements to meet and go out tell the time (minutes to and past the hour) talk about illnesses name parts of the body get by with shopping (food, clothes, choosing colour and size) make travel arrangements (at the train station) talk about work and leisure describe people book a flight state a date
Please note there will be no sessions on 26/10/2020, 15/02/21, 05/04/2021, 12/04/2021, 03/05/2021, 31/05/2021. For Christmas break, you will be advised by your teacher of the actual dates.
