This course aims to improve your horticultural knowledge needed for career development to supervisory/ management roles, or to further develop your interest in horticulture. It follows the RHS syllabus and you wil have the opportunity should you wish to sit the RHS levle 3 examinations. This fee is in addition to the course tuition fee. You will be taught by a qualified and higly experienced horticulture professional and have access to the gardens at Common Leys Farm campus where needed to enhance your experience.

The course is made up of four units:
• Understanding garden survey techniques and design principles
• Understanding the selection and use of landscaping elements in the garden
• Understanding the setting out and construction of landscaping elements in the garden
• Understanding a range of specialist elements in the establishment of garden and urban plantings
The course will cover all the theoretical knowledge needed if students wish to enter for and sit the RHS examinations. These exam fees are additional to the tuition fee and are payble to the college if the student wishes to take the examinations.

A Level 2 qualification in a relevant subject area is desirable. It is strongly recommended that students who undertake this qualification have obtained the RHS Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Plant Growth, Propagation and Development but not essential if students are taking this course for interest only rather than the qualification.
