This is a 30 week evening course accredited by the Royal Horticultural Society covering the theoretical aspects of garden planning, establishing and maintaining your garden at level 2. Students have the opportunity at the end of the course to sit the Royal Horticulture Society's exam if they wish to gain the Certificate of Garden Planning, Establishment and Maintainence which is part of the RHS Diploma in Horticulture. Come and join a group of horticultural enthusiasts and develop your knowledge of horticulture.

This 30 week evening course covers the theoretical aspects of garden design and the establishment and maintenance of gardents. The course follows the RHS syllabus for the level 2 certificate Garden Planning, Establishment and Maintenance and students will have the opportunity to sit these examinations in June if they wish. Full details of the syllabus can be found on the RHS website - www.rhs.org.uk This course is suitable for students just wishing to increase their knowledge of horticulture in addition to those wishing to gain a qualification.

1. Understanding garden features, plant selection and planning.
2. Understanding the choice, establishment and maintenance of garden plants and lawns.
3. Understanding the production of outdoor vegetables and fruit.
4. Understanding protected environments and their use in plant cultivation.

Due to COVID-19 we are not currently planning any trips as part of your course. If we are able to organise trips during your course, the cost of these will be communicated to you at the time. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate. Bursaries may also available to cover the cost of some trips.

Students who successfully pass the examinations will receive the RHS Level 2 Certificate Garden Planning, Establishment and Maintenance.
Group discussions and lectures. Formal examinations in June for those students wishing to gain the RHS level 2 certificate. Each of the 4 units is assessed by an exam. All 4 exams are held on the same day.
