This popular course offers a great opportunity for those who wish to learn about caring for a horse or pony.

This popular course offers a great opportunity for those who wish to learn about handling and caring for a horse or pony. It is a practical hands-on course that gives you the opportunity to develop your skills in handling horses or ponies, mucking-out and bedding down, grooming and tack care and learning health and safety around horses or ponies and build on transferrable skills .

Please wear appropriate clothing for the weather eg. rainwear and wellies. Please bring a drink and snack and money if you wish to purchase farm food goods such as meat, eggs and chicken.

By the end of this course you will be able to, either independently or with support, lead/groom/feed and communicate with a horse or pony and use basic tools and equipment to muck-out and bed-down the stables. You will be able to demonstrate an awareness of health and safety principles.

Progression route - further courses, workshops, projects, possible progression to mainstream courses.
There are no formal entry requirements. This course is for adults with learning disabilities - any level welcome. Not suitable for those with limited mobility.
