This course will teach less experienced drawers the basic proportions and ratios for drawing a full face from different angles and to assist the more experienced learners to develop their skill and competence in drawing using live models.
This carefully structured course allows you to progress and consolidate your learning at your own pace. This can accommodate complete beginners and those with some prior experience of portrait drawing, including some who have completed a term of this course already.
Through tutor led and independent work you will explore stages of proportion and facial ratios which will lead to the development of your personal style, which is a key element of the course.
The course content includes: • Composition.• History of portraiture.• Drawing in pencil, charcoal and pastel. • Perspective. • Proportions of the head.• Line construction and tonal drawing. • Introduction to human anatomy. • Portrait drawing techniques. • Experiments with style.
For the first session please bring A3 cartridge paper, A4 sketch book and your usual drawing equipment. The tutor can advise on further equipment you might like to buy.
Please note there will be no teaching sessions on 21/12/20 and 28/12/20
