This course is designed to suit your individual needs, whether a novice or more experienced in drawing and painting. You will have the opportunity to explore a variety of classical methods and contemporary approaches, whilst covering a range of art and design techniques using a range of media. You will be able to receive constructive support from you tutor and peers to further develop your technical skills and creativity.
Through tutor-led and independent work you will explore stages of proportion and facial ratios which will lead to the development of your personal style, which is a key element of the course.
The course content includes: • Composition.• History of portraiture.• Drawing in pencil, charcoal and pastel. • Perspective. • Proportions of the head.• Line construction and tonal drawing. • Introduction to human anatomy. • Portrait drawing techniques. • Experiments with style.
For the first session please bring A3 cartridge paper, A4 sketch book and your usual drawing equipment. The tutor can advise on further equipment you might like to buy.
Please note there will be no teaching sessions on 15/02/23.
