This course is for young adults who have profound and complex learning difficulties and is designed to meet their individual academic, therapeutic, personal and social needs.

The programme is delivered in a purpose built, supportive environment using a range of approaches including Intensive Interaction, Total Communication and Multi-Sensory communication methods.

Students benefit from a high staff/ student ratio, which enables them to access their Individual Learning Programmes and personalised learning targets where appropriate leading to accredited qualifications.

The curriculum could include, speech and language therapy, hydrotherapy and or physiotherapy, depending on identified learning needs. The aim of the course is to prepare students for adult life. The curriculum is personalised and will cover developing cognitive skills, fine motor skills, communication skills, creative art and accessing community facilities. During the course students are encouraged to develop self awareness and independence skills using the local community and some may engage in our Social Enterpise called the Propeller Project

Assessments are carried out during the student's final year at school. A place will be offered depending on the outcome of the assessments. A link programme is offered during the summer term prior to the student leaving school.

It is anticipated that students will have a current Education Health and Care Plan. College are likely to be consulted by the Local Authority about whether a place can be offered but you will also need to apply for a place to the college.

Further assessments take place during the student's first term at college in order to confirm Pathway 1 placement.
