A short course over five weeks that will introduce you to the art of patchwork and quilting. Learn the basic skills that can be built on for a variety exciting and eye catching projects. You will gain confidence and skills in a relaxed and friendly learning environment
During the course you will learn about fabrics, cutting out, pattern placement and basic sewing, patchwork, and quilting skills to produce a series of panels suitable for Tote bags, cushions, a small quilt, or a wall hanging.
1. How measure accurately and cut out safely2. How to work a pattern and buy suitable fabrics, threads, and wadding3. How to follow instructions to make the panels to be used on above items4. Cover basic design, construction and finishing techniques5. Use hand sewing, quilting and embroidery techniques to assemble and embellish your work.

Basic sewing equipment:Fabric scissors, paper scissors’, embroidery scissors, rotary cutter and cutting board (if you have these). Colour-headed pins, hand sewing needles, tape measure, tailors chalk, marking pen and tacking thread. 30cm/12” ruler and any patchwork rulers and templates that you may already have.
Additional personal costs to learner (over and above the published fee):Fabric plus sewing thread, interfacing, wadding, backing fabric, cord etc that you may wish to use.
