The aim is to help you to develop an individual style of working. You will explore composition design, using colour and tone effectively, and alongside experimental mark making we will also look at traditional glazing over grisaille (grey tonal).

• Simple still life to establish learner’s level of experience
• Rule of thirds: learners to experiment with designing a series of compositions using this method
• Rule of thirds part two: Finished painting
• Negative space: learners to observe negative spaces in a still life then utilise strong negative shapes in designing a composition.
• Colour in composition: Learners to consider the effective juxta positioning of colours to lead the eye and balance the painting.
• Flesh tones: Grisaille study
• Flesh tones glazing over previously produced grisaille paint
• Figure composition part one: Simple perspective of townscape
• Figure composition part two: placing figures within
• Negotiated lesson.

Please note there will be no teaching sessions on 28/05/2020

Further improver classes, self-directed learning, foundation course. Possibly move onto acrylics as there are similarities in the mediums.
