Are you interested in a career working with young children? This Level 3 Diploma enables students to enter the workforce as Early Years Educators or access Higher Education. Past students have progressed on to university to study teaching training, early childhood studies and play therapy.

This exciting course is made up of classroom based learning covering a wide range of topics including – Supporting children’s play and development form birth to 5 years, understanding the role of the Early Years Practitioner (EYP) and understanding legislation and current frameworks. There is also regular work experience in a variety of settings including, day nurseries, pre-schools, primary schools and children’s centres.

The course is split into 15 units achieving the award and certificate in the first year and the diploma in the second year. Subjects include:

• Child development from conception to seven years
• Understanding children’s additional needs
• Professional partnerships in early years
• Children’s health and well-being
• Providing safe environments for children
• Child health
• Play and learning
• Observation, assessment and planning

You will attend weekly work placements during both years which contribute towards the reflective practice units.
Upon achievement of the Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education you may progress onto the Foundation Degree Early Years at Abingdon & Witney College, apply for a university place or enter the workforce as an Early Years Educator.
5 GCSEs at grade C/4 and above usually including Maths and English, satisfactory DBS and reference check.
In addition to the main course fees given below there is an additional cost of £65 for kit / clothing, £25 for a course trip and £25 for books. (Costs are given for guidance only.)

Trips and visits may be offered as part of your programme of study but these will be optional and fees will be collected throughout the duration of the course. Details of cost will be provided during the enrolment process if not already above.
