The Level 3 Digital Technologies course is designed for learners who are interested in developing their knowledge and skills in Computer Science, Computer Systems, IT Security and Encryption. You will develop your understanding of computing science and the fundamentals of computer systems whilst enhancing your own specialist computing knowledge. Through a combination of practical assessments and written assignments, the course provides learners with the knowledge, skills and understanding needed for a successful career in this fast-paced industry sector.

Using our state-of-the-art facilities, you will learn a range of technical, practical and academic skills in order to prepare you for a career in the industry, an apprenticeship or further study. The course focuses on the core computer applications and the technical skills highly valued by employers in the workplace, including; Principles of Computer Science, IT Systems Security and Encryption, Applications of Social Media and Human-Computer Interaction which will enable you to become a vocationally trained, responsive and adaptable individual in this challenging and rapidly developing industry.

• Unit 1: Principles of Computer Science (Exam)
• Unit 2: Fundamentals of Computer Systems (Exam)
• Unit 7: IT Systems Security and Encryption
• Unit 8: Applications of Social Media
• Unit 10: Human-Computer Interaction
• Unit 15: Website Development
On successful completion of the BTEC Level 3 National Foundation Diploma in Computing, you can progress onto the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Computing, gain an apprenticeship or seek technician level employment. Progression to the Level 3 Extended Diploma is subject to successfully completing the Foundation Diploma and passing an interview.
5 or more GCSEs at grade C/4 or Level 2 at Merit including GCSE Maths and English Language at grade 4.
In addition to the main course fees there is an additional cost of £68 for text books. There is also a trip fee of £60. (Costs are given for guidance only.)

Trips and visits may be offered as part of your programme of study but these will be optional and fees will be collected throughout the duration of the course. Details of cost will be provided during the enrolment process if not already above.
