The AAT Access Award in Bookkeeping offers an introductory-level qualification in manual bookkeeping skills. The qualification introduces students to the role of bookkeeper, in particular providing the essential skills in single entry bookkeeping. This is a good finance 'taster' for students before commiting to a higher level qualification.

This qualification consists of one unit with one assessment. It covers four key learning areas:
understanding the role of the bookkeeper
understanding financial transactions
processing customer and supplier transactions
processing receipts and payments.

Access to Bookkeeping
Higher level Accounting or Bookkeeping qualifications
The exam is computer based so basic IT skills are required along with basic English and maths.
There is a fee payable directly to AAT of £41
