In order to avoid disappointment, it is advisable to enrol at least 2½ weeks prior to the course starting. We will confirm course information two weeks prior to the start date.
An introduction to the English curriculum taught in school. It supports children's learning both in and out of school and boosts self-confidence in the subject. Terminology used in school is explored and help and guidance is given so that learners feel comfortable with the subject matter. The course will include the opportunity to explore how reading is taught in schools and an understanding of terminology associated with English.
The course aims to familiarise adults with a range of methods and strategies currently used to teach English in primary schools. It aims to help adults feel confident in supporting their children’s learning in English whilst providing an opportunity to brush up their own skills. It can be used as the first step toward a longer English course with accreditation at the end.
The content will include using punctuation properly; exploring spelling patterns and considering different reading techniques such as skimming and scanning.

Tea/Coffee are available to make, with a small charge. There is a watercooler on site making it easy to refill your water bottle. Free parking.
