An opportunity to get hands-on experience using the tools of the trade. Understand and practise how to work safely and skilfully. Learn basic carpentry and develop your DIY skills from repairing that squeaky door, hanging shelves and fixing stuff around the house! Lots of top tips from experienced staff along the way.

Developing skills in sawing, planing, chiseling, sanding, hammering, measuring and marking out
Gluing timbers and fashioning an edge and a side to timber
Sharpening chisels
Making a halving, mortice and tenon joint
Fitting and hanging shelves
Doors: fitting handles and hinges
Kitchen cupboards

None, but you must wear steel toe capped footwear in the workshop
Due to COVID-19 we are not currently planning any trips as part of your course. If we are able to organise trips during your course, the cost of these will be communicated to you at the time. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate. Bursaries may also available to cover the cost of some trips.
