Love working outdoors,with your hands, in all weathers and in beautiful surroundings? Our Horticulture apprenticeship could be for you.

The horticulture sector is very wide ranging and includes employees working in a number of different roles including landscaping, design and maintenance of parks, gardens and green spaces. Separate apprenticeship programmes are also available for greenkeeping and sports turf job roles. If you enjoy working outdoors and are practically-minded then a career in the horticulture sector could be very rewarding.

Apprentices will learn the knowledge and skills required to design and maintain green spaces such as local authority gardens, private estates, gardens and the grounds of public and private sector organisations. Apprentices will learn how to prepare soil for growing grass, maintain grass and identify, grow and maintain plants. Training will also be provided in design and landscaping and in areas such as manual handling and basic first aid. At higher levels, apprentices learn how to manage their own horticulture projects and start to develop team leading skills.

Successful completion of this apprenticeship could lead to work-based study at a higher level or full-time permanent employment.
No formal entry requirements. Applicants are likely to have 4 GCSEs A*-D/9-3 or equivalent, and will need to be able to demonstrate the capability to achieve all elements of the apprenticeship during their programme, including working in a suitable job role.

This apprenticeship has an £5000 funding band.Smaller companies will need to make a small contribution, large companies could pay through the apprenticeship levy.
