This full-time course will give you the knowledge and understanding to be able to work in health and social care or continue on to higher education. It is the equivalent of completing 3 full A levels and includes work experience placements in a variety of health and social care settings to widen your knowledge and aid your career choices.

This exciting cross-curriculum course offers students practical experience and the theoretical underpinning knowledge to pursue careers in health and social care. The course is taught by a range of staff from a variety of vocational background.

These are the typical units you will study over the duration of the course:

Core units: Communication, Equality and Diversity, Health and Safety, Development through the Life Stages, Anatomy and Physiology, Sociology and Psychology and Professional Development.

Optional units include: Nutrition, Dementia, Physiological Disorders, Public Health, Caring for Individuals with Additional Needs, Medication and Care Values.

Throughout the course you will undertake over 400 hours of work placement in various settings. This will include regular one day a week placements and also block placements.

In addition you will have the opportunity to gain qualifications in first aid, food hygiene and manual handling.
This course is ideal for progressing onto university/higher education or entering the world of employment in your chosen career.
5 GCSEs at grade C/4 and above usually including Maths and English, satisfactory DBS and reference check.
In addition to the main course fees given below there is an additional cost of £65 for kit / clothing, £25 for a course trip and £45 for books. (Costs are given for guidance only.)

Trips and visits may be offered as part of your programme of study but these will be optional and fees will be collected throughout the duration of the course. Details of cost will be provided during the enrolment process if not already above.
