If you have no or minimal knowledge of the Greek language then this is the place for you to start your journey into the Greek language. “Rusty” beginners who have learned very little Greek but feel that revision and practice would be useful, may want to consider signing up as well. However, if this applies to you, you may need to consider that the course might be a bit too slow or easy for your needs, should you know much more than complete beginners. This is also the course for those who have learned Classical Greek as there are fundamental differences.
In order to avoid disappointment, it is advisable to enrol at least 2 ½ weeks prior to the course starting. We will confirm course information two weeks prior to the start date.
During this course you will focus on communication, mainly oral. It will also lead into short texts and provide you with a range of vocabulary items and basic grammar. By the end of this course you will be able to:
- introduce yourself- greet and introduce others- ask and say where they come from- ask and say where they live- order drinks and snacks in a cafe- use numbers up to 100- recognise the letters of the Greek alphabet and their combinations- recognise, write and spell simple words
Please note there will be no teaching sessions on 21/02/2022.
There are vending machines available where hot/cold drinks and snacks can be purchased. To reduce the use of single-use plastic water bottles/cups, there are watercoolers on site making it easy to refill your water bottle.
There is no parking on the campus during the day. Please use Marriotts Walk or Woodford Way Car Parks which are a few minutes’ walk away.
Please report to Reception on arrival. A photo-id will be issued, for you to wear when you attend classes.
Abingdon and Witney College is subject to Ofsted regulation and is required to work with all its students to make sure they understand Government initiatives around Safeguarding, Prevent and Fundamental British Values. Information on these matters will be shared with you during your course.
You will also be asked to complete monitoring paperwork, which helps us to deliver course content to the highest quality.
