Glass Fusing- Kiln Carving and Metal Inclusions 2 Projects

Project 1:
Kiln Carving: You will learn how to create bas relief and texture in glass. This process involves cutting designs in fibre paper, creating different thicknesses and fusing the glass over your design to create contours and textures.

Project 2:
Metal Inclusions: In this project you will experiment with metals that are compatible with glass. Materials like foils, meshes, metal powders and oxides can be used to create interesting designs and you can use copper wire to create a line drawing within your design. Both these projects are suitable for a further firing to create a shallow dish or you might just wish to use it as a serving platter or decorative panel.

Please bring with you:
• a sketchbook/notebook and pen
• photos, patterns and pictures to use as inspiration
• a dust mask
• an apron
• an old but clean dishcloth is useful
• wear closed-toe shoes
