This short course will provide you with the opportunity to learn how to carry out a full set of Gel nail extensions. Nail extensions have become increasingly popular and are long lasting and low maintenance.

In order to avoid disappointment, it is advisable to enrol at least 2½ weeks prior to the course starting. We will confirm course information two weeks prior to the start date.

Who is this course for?
The course is aimed at anyone who would like to know how to carry out a full set of Gel nail extensions. The tutor will take you through each process step by step with lots of opportunities to ask questions along the way.

What the course will cover:
During this course, you will learn about the function and structure of the natural nail and every aspect of gel nail extensions. The course will Include:

• Preparing the natural nail.
• How to fit, apply and blend in nail tips.
• The correct application of gel.
• Buffing and finishing to create beautiful natural looking gel enhancements.

Prior to the start date you will need to purchase a gel nail kit to complete this course. Basic gel nail kits, excluding a curing lamp, can be purchased for as little as £30 from You will have to add a curing lamp for approximately £40. You might want to invest in a more comprehensive kit for around £100 from

Please bring the items below with you:
Sanitising spray, lint free wipes, files (100/150 grit and 180 grit)
Cuticle pumice, cuticle nippers, soft brush (shaving brush size) for dusting
Curved scissors, mixture of different size nail tips, nail glue
Gel base, sculpting gel and UV topcoat gel
Good quality good quality gel brush
Buffing blocks (not necessary if buying topcoat gel and UV lamp)
Gel topcoat and UV lamp (optional, but will give the best finish)

Course Outcomes
By the end of this short course, you will be able to:

• prepare the natural nail
• fit, apply and blend in nail tips
• correctly apply gel
• create natural looking gel enhancements

There are no entry requirements. All welcome.

Courses can fill fast, so please enrol early to avoid disappointment. Decisions on whether a course is to run are made two weeks prior to the start date - an email will be sent to you should there be changes to your course or if it is cancelled. Please check your inbox leading up to your course, including the junk folders. For anyone without an email account, our Admissions team will phone you instead.

For the first week of the course you will need to bring a valid form of identification; this includes passport, driving licence, debit/credit card, Birth Certificate or National Insurance card.

Please note - you should be 19 years old or over at 31st August 2022 prior to starting the course.

Courses offered by the college are fully or partly funded by the Government and the published fee takes account of this funding.

Before starting a course, the College is required to check you meet conditions relating to that funding, e.g. age, residency status within the UK/EEA, prior qualification level and employment status. In some circumstances (such as with online enrolments), these checks can only be completed after you have enrolled and paid.

If you are unable to pay in full for this course at the time of enrolment, and the course tuition fee is £300 or more, an instalment plan is available. If this is your preference, please do not enrol online but rather call the Admissions Team on 01235 216400 to enrol.

Once enrolled, Admissions will take the first instalment payment from you and pass on your details to the Finance team who will email you to set-up your payment plan. Please return a fully completed instalment plan to Finance as failure to do so could result in being withdrawn from your course.

As this is a non-accredited course, there is no formal qualification. However, you will be asked to complete activities that demonstrate how you are progressing on your course.
The tutor will provide a demonstration followed by learner participation and experimentation. The tutor will offer one-to-one support throughout the course and provide feedback.

As this is a non-accredited course, there is no formal qualification. However, you will be required to measure your progress by completing a RARPA form which represents the Recognition and Recording of your Progress and Achievement.
