It is planned that this course will be running online, using Teams, for the Autumn Term. This may change, depending on Government guidelines.
This course will allow participants to consolidate and extend their confidence in speaking and their understanding of French on various topics, developing a wide range of vocabulary and tenses on current affairs and on specific topics as well. Discussions, translations, analysis and presentations will create the opportunity to express oneself and share viewpoints and facts with others, with an understanding of ordinary and formal language, and even some colloquial language.
The course will lead to the analysis of new technologies, to the discovery of the culture and the past of a few towns and regions in the French Speaking World, to informed debates on climate issues and population issues, to compare economic programmes and the evolution and the mechanisms of democracy. It will encourage comment on films extracts and video extracts, books, cartoons and articles reviews, as well as a follow up of art exhibitions and shows. A few songs and poetry will be included in the practice of the language. Please note there will be no teaching sessions on 29/10/2020, 24/12/2020, 31/12/2020, 18/02/2021, 08/04/2021, 15/04/2021 and 03/06/2021
