This 30-week course provides an excellent entry and progression into the floral design and provision industries. If you are a creative person with a keen interest in floristry and flower arrangement this is the course for you. Regardless of whether you are a hobbyist, wishing to start a career in floristry or wanting to study whilst already in employment within a floristry business you should enjoy learning the different styles and working with the range of materials covered in this course. The course will be run over 30 mornings based at the Witney Campus. You will need to supply your own floristry equipment for the course and will need to bring fresh flowers/sundries to each lesson. The flowers will cost £10- £15 approx per lesson.

During the course you will cover 3 units that will be chosen with the aim to give you the best range of experience and introduction to floristry. Every week you will get hands on with practical workshop style lessons. The course is taught by an experienced florist who is not only experienced in teaching floristry to beginners and those more experienced but also runs her own floristry business. The course will be assessed by a mixture of written assessments, a portfolio of evidence and practical assessments. Witness statements from employers can also be used as supportive evidence of completion of the criteria. Pass, merit, and distinction grades are available for each element.

Units will be chosen from the following:

• Undertake Basic Floristry Display Techniques
• Identification and Use of Flowers and Foliage
• Floristry Interior Design
• Presentation and Service for Retailing in the Land-based Sector
• Plan, Prepare and Construct Tied Floristry Designs

As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate. Bursaries may also available to cover the cost of some trips.
