This qualification is designed to provide the knowledge, understanding and practical skills needed to work as a Gym Instructor in the sport and physical activity sector.

This qualification aims to provide learners with the skills and knowledge necessary to plan, deliver and evaluate safe and effective fitness instruction sessions via the context of gym-based exercise. The course covers anatomy and physiology for exercise, planning gym based exercise, instruction gym based exercise and principles of exercise, fitness and health. The course also includes health, safety and welfare in a fitness environment and learning to know how to support clients who take part in exercise and physical activity.

Successful completion of this qualification will enable you to work in gyms/leisure centres as a gym instructor. Learners successfully completing this qualification will be able to gain entry to the CIMSPA Exercise and Fitness Directory as an Affiliate member. Learners will also be eligable to enrol on the Level 3 Personal Trainer qualification.
Due to COVID-19 we are not currently planning any trips as part of your course. If we are able to organise trips during your course, the cost of these will be communicated to you at the time. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate. Bursaries may also available to cover the cost of some trips.
