An effective, enjoyable class for all ages and abilities. Exercises and dance moves to improve/maintain all areas of fitness, such as: coordination, posture, range of movement and balance. It is also good for general wellbeing and mental health, and you can work at your own level.
This course is for anyone wanting to maintain/improve their fitness, to be active, sociable, safe and have fun.
What the course will cover:
The basic routine for each session is as follows:· A warm-up consisting of a pulse raiser, mobiliser and short stretch which prepares the body for the aerobic section.· The aerobic section is a mixture of high and low impact exercises. The tutor will demonstrate alternative exercises so that you can work at your own level.· The cool down will include exercises that lower your pulse, muscular strength and endurance exercises (for the tummy, thighs and improved posture) then a cool down stretch and a remobiliser to finish.
Routines will be varied to incorporate different styles such as, cha, cha, cha; Charleston; modern jazz and pop.
Enjoying movement is important. Please wear comfortable clothes, such as leggings, exercise trousers and T-shirt. Suitable shoes must be worn to provide support and absorb shock, for example trainers.
Please bring a mat or towel for floor work and a bottle of water or something to drink to re-hydrate the body.
Do not buy any materials until it has been confirmed that the course is running.
Course Outcomes:
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
· practice a mixture of high and low impact exercises · identify the benefits of regular exercise for general wellbeing · recognise how exercise can improve coordination, posture and balance
