The Events & Tourism sector is a thriving and dynamic global market place, with a wide range of exciting and energetic job roles available. People who work in events and tourism have a passion for travel and meticulous attention to detail. What do people in events and tourism do? In simple terms, people in the events and tourism industry organise exciting events and have an exceptional knowledge of tourist destinations.

This course is a full time two year course which explores, through different units of study, the industry as a whole.

• The course will embody the true spirit of the events and tourism industry and will challenge students at all levels.
• There will be a number of engaging course trips where you can observe and see businesses working within this exciting and exotic tourism sector.
• You will also hear from a number of carefully selected guest speakers from the sector, sharing their experience and real life work knowledge with you.
• You will also have the opportunity to participate in two week work experience within the Events & Tourism Industry. Examples of work placements could include event companies, hotels, travel agencies, popular tourist attractions.

You will explore the business of events and tourism and develop key skills in marketing, managing events and working in teams. You will develop your geography knowledge of UK destinations as well as European and long haul travel destinations. The course includes many different day trips, UK residential and oversea residential visits, some of which you plan, book, finalise the itinerary, risk assess and guide.

These are the typical units you will study over the duration of the course:

Year 1 modules include:

• Exploring Business
• Developing a Marketing Campaign
• Personal and Business Finance
• Managing an Event
• Market Research
• Investigating Customer Service

Year 2 modules include:

• International Business
• Principles of Management
• Business Decision Making
• Team Building in Business
• Digital Marketing
• Creative Promotion
• Work Experience in Business
On successful completion of the course you will be able to:

• Progress to university to study degrees including: Tourism, Event Management, Hospitality and Business Management.
• Go directly to work in the industry, as: an Events Assistant, an Overseas Representative or Air Cabin Crew Member
• Take your transferable skills into a diverse range of employment opportunities
5 GCSEs grade C or above usually including English and Maths and/or equivalent Level 2 qualification at merit.
In adddition to the main course fees given below there is an additional cost of £720 for course trips. (Costs are given for guidance only.)

Trips and visits may be offered as part of your programme of study but these will be optional and fees will be collected throughout the duration of the course. Details of cost will be provided during the enrolment process if not already above.
