Using our state-of-the-art facilities, you will learn a range of technical, practical and academic skills in order to prepare you for a career in the engineering industry, an apprenticeship or further study.

The course will prepare the learner to be able to aware of and abide by the safe working practices within an engineering environment, paired with the practical skills of hand fitting techniques, use of a centre lathe (turning) and using a vertical milling machine.

On succesful completion of this course you will be able to apply for the Level 2 Engineering course here at Abingdon and Witney college, you could also work with our team to look for an apprenticeship or find full or part time employment.
GCSEs at grade D/3 - G/1 incl. Maths and English and a successful interview.
As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate. Bursaries may also available to cover the cost of some trips.

As aformentioned the course is predominantley practical and is assesed by practical work pieces, short, detailed write ups and job plans and short answer end of unit exams both online and written.
