Drawing from Scratch A is the first part of a two-year long course. You can regard the course as a whole or use different terms as a stand-alone course. The course will help you discover your drawing skills, gain confidence in your ability and explore materials and techniques.
In order to avoid disappointment, it is advisable to enrol at least 2½ weeks prior to the course starting. We will confirm course information two weeks prior to the start date.
During the course you will learn about line, tone, mark making techniques and the use of negative space, as well as researching other artist’s work to gain inspiration.
• Use various materials by mark-making, line, shape, tone, and texture. • How to measure basic shapes, proportion, and positioning on paper. • How to make objects look convincingly three-dimensional. • How to use and mix various drawing media and techniques, including charcoal. • How to extend pieces of drawing work.
For the first session please bring: • A4 or A3 sketchbook of cartridge paper. • A range of drawing pencils, anywhere from HB to 9B. You don't need all, just one or two to start with, say a lower number or HB and a higher number 4B+.
Plese do not buy any materials until your course is confirmed as running. You will be introduced to further drawing materials as the course progresses.
Please note there will be no teaching sessions on: 26/10/2022.
Please bring own refreshments, if required. There is no parking at the venue. Maximum 3 hours free parking in Tesco car park close by.Please note that there is no disabled toilet available at this time.
