Discover the exciting skills of drawing and painting and create your own unique art samples. The course provides a structured introduction to a range of art & design activities. You are encouraged to experiment with a variety of materials and techniques, and find your strength. The exploration and development of ideas is also a key element of the course.
Enthusiasm and commitment are essential and more important than formal qualifications.

Main topics covered:

• The basic rules of sketching a portrait in basic shape and proportions.
• The proportions of the human head.
• Techniques of modern artists related to a portrait.
• Shading techniques to create a three-dimensional imagery of a portrait on a two-dimensional plane.
• Landscape painting in gouache or pen and wash technique with a perspective.

Please note there will be no teaching sessions on 04/05/2020 and 25/05/2020

Drawing and Painting - intermediate A
No formal qualification necessary, but you should have had some prior experience of working in art & design e.g. GCSE/O level or evening class work. Enthusiasm and commitment are essential and more important than formal qualifications.
The specialist consumable fee set at £0.50 per hour covers materials provided for you to try or experiment with, as part of the planned study. This sum includes paper, pastels, ink and some brushes.
You are expected to provide your own paint, which might cost up to £20. Tutor will advise at the first session on paints etc.

Trips and visits may be offered as part of your programme of study but these will be optional and fees will be collected throughout the duration of the course. Details of cost will be provided during the enrolment process if not already above.
