Create your own unique self-portrait. You are encouraged to experiment with a variety of materials and techniques and find your strength. A course designed to help you to improve your skills, while presenting new challenges, ideas and approaches.

Enthusiasm and commitment are essential and more important than formal qualifications.

Main topics covered:

• The proportions of the human head.
• Drawing of a self-portrait in basic shape and proportions.
• Techniques of modern artists related to a self-portrait.
• Visual language in relation to art project: line, pattern, shape and form, tonal value, colour, texture.
• Colour theory.
• The basic rules of using guidelines to help position a portrait correctly.
• Self-portrait painting in gouache with a modern abstract perspective.

Drawing and Painting - improvers C
No formal qualification necessary, but you should have had some prior experience of working in art & design e.g. GCSE/O level or evening class work. Enthusiasm and commitment are essential and more important than formal qualifications.
The specialist consumable fee set at £0.50 per hour covers materials provided for you to try or experiment with, as part of the planned study. This sum includes paper, pastels, ink and some brushes.
You are expected to provide their own paint, which might cost you up to £20. Tutor will advise at the first session on paints etc.

Trips and visits may be offered as part of your programme of study but these will be optional and fees will be collected throughout the duration of the course. Details of cost will be provided during the enrolment process if not already above.
