Discover the exciting skills of drawing and painting and create your own unique art work. Learn a wide range of drawing and painting techniques. This intensive course provides the necessary information about the tools and techniques of drawing and painting and is structured to suit learners’ pace and prior abilities. See what you can produce after ten sessions and amaze yourself!
Absolutely no previous experience is required.

Main topics covered:

• The basic rules of using guidelines to help position things correctly.
• Basic rules of perspective.
• Making tonal strips with pencils of different strength.
• Colour theory.
• How to create different tone and decorative patterns with pen and ink.
• Creating a three-dimensional image of a still-life in pencil (pen and ink or gouache) by using different tonal patterns and knowledge about main rules of perspective.

There will be a continuation course Drawing and Painting - beginners B in November
Absolutely no previous experience is required.
The specialist consumable fee set at £0.50 per hour and covers materials provided for you to try or experiment with, as part of the planned study. This sum includes paper, pastels, ink and some brushes.

You are expected to provide their own paint, which might cost up to £20. Your tutor will advise at the first session on paints etc.

Due to COVID-19 we are not currently planning any trips as part of your course. If we are able to organise trips during your course, the cost of these will be communicated to you at the time. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate. Bursaries may also available to cover the cost of some trips.
