It is planned that this course will be running online, using Teams, for the Autumn Term. This may change, depending on Government guidelines.
This is a course for those of you who have studied the language at least to Intermediate level and would like to continue practicing the language by learning new vocabulary as well as new grammar structures. All of the topics will enable you to learn to discuss and express your own opinion in a greater depth from different perspectives. The focus of this course will be mainly on speaking and listening. The course will include writing short paragraphs in Pinyin and develope further basic skills in reading and writing Chinese characters.
You will study about 100 further new vocabularies around the topics below with an emphasis on pinyin and meaning. This will enable you to have basic conversations in a range of really life situations. • House hunt – seeing a new place – make a comparison in finer details. • To ask other people to do something• Children are always listening to music while doing homework.. • Apart from Chinese, I also speak French.• If I have money and time, I would go to Beijing for holiday.• I think everybody can solve your problem. The course will equip students with some knowledge on radicals for better understanding of the Chinese characters, with grammar structures for more fluent conversation and for writing simple texts on learned topics. We will also introduce some culture/traditions alongside the Chinese festivals, and some common sayings and taboos.
