This course covers fundamentals of the uniformed protective services sector and is designed to support learners who want to study uniformed protective services. It will allow learners to access higher education in public services and related areas, and ultimately for learners to progress to employment in the uniformed protective services. This reflects the shift towards increased graduate employment in the sector, for example in the police service.

Behaviour and discipline
Fitness and health
Teams and leadership
Careers in uniformed public services


Unit 1: Citizenship and Diversity
Unit 2: Behaviour and Discipline in the Uniformed Protective Services
Unit 4: Physical Preparation, Health and Wellbeing
Unit 5: Teamwork, Leadership and Communication in the Uniformed Protective Services.
Unit 13: Introduction to Criminology
The qualification is intended to carry UCAS points and is recognised by higher-education providers as contributing to admission requirements for many relevant courses. When combined with other qualifications in a two-year study programme, such as our second year Extended Diploma in Protective Services, learners can progress to higher education in a range of disciplines or employment or apprenticeship within uniformed public services.

Joining the programme is subject to a satisfactory interview, positive reference and having achieved one of the following:
- BTEC Level 2 Diploma at Merit Level and a minimum of grade 4 English Language or maths
- At least five GCSEs at Grades 4 or above, including English Language or equivalent
- Applicants aged 18+ are required to have equivalent qualifications or experience and the necessary skills to complete the course.
In adddition to the main course fees given below there are additional costs for course trips and for kit/clothing

Trips and visits may be offered as part of your programme of study but these will be optional and fees will be collected throughout the duration of the course. Details of cost will be provided during the interview process.
