Ballet dancing seems to be the one that people most admire. perhaps this is because of the huge MYTH surrounding classical dance which is that, unless you learn it from a very young age, you can't participate, other than as a spectator. This is absolutely untrue. It is for everyone.

This course will explore all the basics of Ballet and allow you to fully understand and perform these to a good level. Each week you will learn the basics of steps, including the terminology and correct execution, and then develop these throughout the lesson into all other areas of Ballet. Not only will you be physically challenged, but also mentally by remembering the terms and how to perform them. Mostly it will be a fun environment where the focus is to give everything a go and have an inclusive and non-judgemental community in class.

It's an excellent way to keep fit. You will appreciate the wonderful, graceful posture that regular classes gives you. Get your dancing slippers on and give it a try. This course is suitable for beginners and improvers.

Each week there will be a different focus and therefore by the end a further understanding of the elements ballet will have been gained, e.g. use of turn out. Each lesson will begin at the barre, where you will focus on developing the basics of plies each week. From here, you will delve into other barre exercises including Tendus, Releves and Rond de Jambe. You will then go in the centre to focus on either Port de Bras or Adage. From here you will focus on Allegro and cater the type of allegro back to the lesson aim. Each week you will either finish with a cool down including Balances and Port de Bras, or a light stretch.

Please note there will be no teaching sessions on 27.10.2020
