We have industry-leading tutors

Our teaching staff have their fingers on the pulse when it comes to finance, and it's not just us who think that. Karen Walker, one of our Witney-based tutors, was crowned Tutor of the Year at the 2019 Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Training Provider Awards.

Profit from our AAT expertise

The college was recognised with the Large Training Provider of the Year award at the 2020 AAT Training Provider Awards as a result of the exceptionally high quality of our courses.

Do you have a passion for accountancy and progressing your career?

We successfully train new accountants and retrain those who want to change their careers year in, year out, across all AAT levels, with students achieving amazing results.

Professional qualifications can be life-changing for learners, but we understand balancing your personal life, work and studies can difficult. That's why we teach courses at different times of the day to offer flexibility. Our tutors also have lots of experience teaching learners with a range of circumstances and from a variety of backgrounds.

As you advance through your AAT levels, mastering financial processes and practices, you will work in small but interactive classes alongside other dedicated learners and professionals, giving you more contact time with tutors and 1:1 support should you need it.

Our AAT courses really make employers sit up and take notice!

Karen Walker

Karen has worked at the College for 15 years, teaching on the AAT courses from Level 2 to Level 4, following on from her established career in finance.

In 2019, Karen was recognised on the national stage, winning the AAT Tutor of the Year Award at the awarding body's annual conference.

"The AAT courses have changed people's lives and I love hearing how well my students have done after achieving their qualification.

I am very privileged to teach such hard working and dedicated students on our Accounting courses at Abingdon & Witney College. It is my mission to make the classes a supportive but challenging environment that they look forward to coming to."

Maths was always my strongest subject and my ambition was always to work as an accountant.

At college, there is much more independence than at school and I like the fact I study the subject I'm most interested in. Meeting new people and the balance between work and college is what I enjoy most about studying here.

Karen is a really good teacher and gives you individual attention, and there is also access to lots of useful resources.

When I achieve Level 4, I will hopefully be promoted at work and depending on my results, I'm hoping to do ACCA in September.

I have previously done AAT Level 2 as an apprentice and Level 3 as an employee. Coming back to college to do Level 4, I really enjoy the learning experience, the fact that our class is small and we all support each other. Everyone wants to be there, so we achieve a lot.

Karen is really supportive and friendly and goes out of her way to give extra help. The course means I can apply what I learn at work, with lots of topics in a broad range of areas covered.

Originally after finishing school, I applied for university but I saw the AAT apprenticeship and decided to go down that route. My employer then offered me the chance to study higher levels.

Because of the job I am in and that the college is local to where I live in Witney, this course has worked out well for me. I also have a friend who had already finished the Level 3 qualification and she'd recommended the course and the College.

I’m enjoying being back at college and coming back as a mature learner has been great. This is not a subject that I had to do but one I wanted to do for myself and I am enjoying the challenge of learning again as well as meeting lots of new people.

Over the last two years I have completed my Level 2 and Level 3 and am currently studying Level 4.
