This is a one year full time course delivered at our Abingdon campus and is designed to prepare people without traditional entry qualifications for degree level study at university. It may also be used by people wishing to make a career change or who have been out of formal education for a significant time in order to gain the skills and
confidence required for direct progression to employment or further study. The Access to HE Diploma is regulated by QAA and widely recognised as a progression route by universities across the UK. The Access Diploma therefore provides a second chance for individuals who, for whatever reason, were not able to take full advantage of their formal secondary education.

The course will be delivered over one and a half days but will require additional outside study time of at least 10 hours/week.

Access to HE Diploma Business Studies is a course specifically designed to enable students with few qualifications to reach the necessary entry requirements for a degree or diploma in Higher Education.
You must be 19 or over have few formal qualifications but want to go on to study in Higher Education.
You will need to have a GCSE grade C/4 (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
Students aged 19-23 who do not already hold a Level 3 qualification may be entitled to remission of fees. Students aged 24+ and those who already hold a Level 3 qualification will need to pay fees or apply for an advanced learner loan. At present this loan does not need to be repaid if you progress onto a degree programme within one year of completing your Access to HE course but please contact our admissions team for further details.

Due to COVID-19 we are not currently planning any trips as part of your course. If we are able to organise trips during your course, the cost of these will be communicated to you at the time. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate. Bursaries may also available to cover the cost of some trips.

There are bursaries available to help you with other course costs. Call 01235 216 298 for more information.

The rules on fee reduction are complicated and we would encourage you to talk to our Admissions staff on 01235 555 585 to discuss your options. You can find more information on our Fees and Bursaries page - search "Fees and Bursaries" at the top of the page.
