This workshop offers some practical information and guidelines to provide carers with some basic tips on caring for someone at home. It includes identifying appropriate care plans and routines and how to move and handle their loved one without injury to themselves or the cared for person.
Who is this workshop for?Any unpaid carer who is looking after someone with a long-term illness, special need or impairment is invited to join this online course.
What the workshop will cover:This workshop offers carers an opportunity to gain basic moving and handling knowledge to use within the home environment, including how to move and handle someone safely and ensure they look after their back.
It will provide practical tips and ideas, including how to deal with falls and how to source equipment to assist in moving and handling. Other topics include providing individualised care whilst maintaining the person's dignity using practical tips, methods and skills to manage personal hygiene and identify appropriate care plans and routines.
Course Outcomes By participating in this course participants will have the opportunity to: • identify how to move and handle someone safely without injuring their back• recognise what to do if someone falls• identify appropriate care plans and routines
Tea/Coffee are available to make, with a small charge. There is a watercooler on site making it easy to refill your water bottle. Free parking.
