Pass on your skills to the next generation

Do you like working with apprentices and adults? Do you enjoy guiding others and sharing your knowledge?

Then why not join our team of experienced staff at our Bicester Construction Skills Centre or our Net Zero Skills Hub in Abingdon? You’ll train the next generation of plumbers in gas engineering and/or renewables technologies in first class facilities with state of the art technology.

There’s no need to be a qualified teacher. If you are passionate about what you do and hold a Level 2 or 3 qualification in your trade, we can support you to learn the rest – including the chance to formally qualify as a lecturer if you want to!

Already a qualified teacher? Then you’ll enjoy our small class sizes and the supportive atmosphere! Our Teaching Skills Academy will help you to develop your practice further, or we’ll support you to gain management skills if that’s your next step.

Total earnings can be up to £53,000 per annum and you can receive amazing benefits; such as 27 - 37 days paid holidays (depending on the package agreed) plus bank holidays, a fantastic pension scheme, and flexible working options. Roles include full-time and part-time opportunities (including the choice to work only evenings and Saturdays) so there’s no need to give up your private work or business either – you can do it all!

Bicester Construction Skills Centre

Bicester Construction Skills Centre is our purpose built centre for apprentices and adults. The centre feels like a private training provider or employer training centre, but with all the benefits of being part of a college.

In our brand new ACS Gas Centre, we have Worcester Bosch sponsored and equipped gas training bays and spacious wet training areas, which provide a great environment for apprentices and adults to learn.

Thinking of joining? You’ll join a close knit team who are passionate about helping their learners succeed.

Renewable Technologies Suite

In September 2022, we launched our £3.5 million Green Construction Centre at our Abingdon Campus.

As part of the development we established a Renewable Technologies Suite to deliver the training and skills that will allow us to meet the net zero targets set both nationally and locally.

The suite has a mix of air source heat pumps, solar panels and water harvesting technologies to build awareness of the environmental technologies available.

This suite is part of our net zero skills hub

Net Zero hub

Our net zero skills hub will deliver a range of courses for our full-time students, apprentices, adult learners and professionals including: Awareness in environmental technologies, introductions to rainwater harvesting, solar thermal, photo voltaic, heat pumps installation and electric/hybrid vehicle maintenance and repair.

Our renewable technology courses are an exciting addition to our course offer and will put Abingdon & Witney College 'front and centre' in offering training to meet the government's net zero commitments.

Using your skills to make a difference!

Graham Hill, Gas Centre Manager at our Bicester Construction Centre reunited with some of his ex-students as they installed Worcester Bosh equipment in our new Renewable Technology Suite in Abingdon.
