Learn something new with Oxfordshire Adult Learning in 2018!
Ever wondered what it would be like to be able to create your own beautiful works of art? To learn a language before you jet off on holiday in the summer? To finally fix that leaky tap without having to call someone in? Oxfordshire Adult Learning (OAL) is dedicated to providing lifelong learning across the county, having provided for thousands of students of all ages over the years, and 2018 is set to be our best year ever!
From guitar lessons to Italian bread making, to say there’s something for everyone may be a bit of a cliché but it’s certainly no exaggeration! It has a wider variety of subject areas than ever before, including new specialist classes such as genealogy and astrology, and where courses become very popular, it aims to put on more classes to help meet the demand.
Classes are designed with modern day routines in mind, with many taking place weekly in the evenings to avoid clashes with work and the school run.
OAL is also working within local communities to help them reengage with learning, with new projects for 2018 already launched:
• Oxfordshire Online is an exciting new programme in partnership with Oxfordshire Libraries to help local residents improve their digital and online skills
• The Carer’s Project, in partnership with Carers Oxfordshire, is exclusively for adult carers who are looking after someone, but want to access free practical sessions that support their development
• Would you like to make a difference in your community? There are plenty of volunteering opportunities that OAL can help you with, plus lots of opportunities for training
• OAL is also part of the Oxfordshire Learning Network, the county’s Community Learning Trust that funds different projects from a range of providers and charities.
Interested in improving your English language or maths skills, or maybe both? Making sure you have the right GCSEs or level of English language skills is important for work and in life. With OAL, you can enrol on a short course and it could even be free. Check out the latest dates and times for 2018.
