School Leavers

1. Discover what you can do, online and in person

Find out more about what we do, what student life is like and how we can support you by browsing the School Leavers page or visiting us at one of the many events we hold throughout the year.

2. Search for a course and apply

Found a course you like? Simply tap Apply on the course page - this will take you to our registration portal where you will provide further details and secure your place.

You can apply for a School Leaver course at any point in the year. If you apply from mid-October onwards, you will be enrolled for the following academic year starting in September, unless you are entering into one of our specialist programmes (i.e. Gateway) where start dates vary.

3. We’re here if you need us

Depending on how early you apply for a course, you may not hear from us regularly until closer to our enrolment days in July/August. Don't worry - we haven't forgotten you!

If you have any questions about your application, or have since changed your mind, contact our Admissions Team as soon as you can:

01235 216 400 | enquiries@abingdon-witney.ac.uk

4. Interview and accept offer

After applying, you will be invited to the college for an interview.

This is an opportunity to talk to the tutor in detail about your course, look around the College, and to finalise your suitability for the course you have chosen.

5. Welcome pack and enrolment

During August, you will be sent a pack through the post containing important information, key dates and times for your enrolment and welcome day, and what you will need to bring.

That will also include bringing your GCSE results. No matter how they went, we can help you find an option that works best for you.

And that's it...you're now a student of Abingdon & Witney College!

4. Check your inbox or your letterbox

Once you're enrolled on a course, an email will be sent through to confirm receipt of payment and further details about the course. Make sure to check spam and junk folders too just in case.

In the event you do not have an email account set up, this would mean you have applied in person or over the phone as an email address is required when applying online. A letter will be sent to your corresponding home address instead.

5. The first class

To make sure the first session of the course runs smoothly, make sure you bring along all the items listed on the course page on the website (if any), and the documents listed in the confirmation email/letter (e.g. one form of ID).

Learners will also be required to fill in a separate enrolment form in their first session.

4. Apply with us or through UCAS

For Level 4-5 qualifications, such as HNCs/HNDs and Diplomas, you can apply directly through the College. Courses above this level require you to apply via UCAS – you can find the UCAS code you need to get started on the relevant course page.

5. Organise your funding

We recommend you organise your funding as soon as possible. Some applicants will be studying through their employer – we will require proof of funding if this is the case.
