Full-time courses

How to apply for a full-time course

This process applies to people living in the UK, wishing to attend a full-time course or ‘substantial’ part-time courses requiring an interview, e.g. Higher National Certificates.

If you wish to apply from outside the EU please go to the International students section for instructions and a form.

Step 1: Choose the course

Choose the course you want. All courses in the prospectus apart from AS/A levels will have course code, a contact name and number linked to each course. If you have an enquiry about the detail of a course, please contact the course tutor who will be able to help you. Full-time courses have an 'F' as the second letter of course code.

For a quick response from our Admissions team, email enquiry@abingdon-witney.ac.uk. You can also contact us by telephone on 01235 555 585 or 01993 703 464, but please be aware that our phone lines are very busy during peak enrolment times.

Step 2: Application

Download and print the full-time course application form (pdf)

Complete the form and send it to:
Admissions
Abingdon and Witney College,
FREEPOST,
Abingdon, OX14 1BR
or hand it into the reception at any campus.

If you prefer, you can ask for a hard copy of the form by emailing enquiry@abingdon-witney.ac.uk or phoning Admissions on 01235 555 585 (Abingdon campus) or 01993 703 464 (Witney campus).

Step 3: Interview

Once you have sent in your application for a course at Abingdon Witney College we will contact you to arrange an interview. The focus of this interview is to explain in more detail exactly what is involved in the course, how you will be taught, what topics will be covered and how you will be assessed. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and to raise any concerns you may have. The interview is a good opportunity for you to make sure that the course is exactly what you expect it to be.

No more than three weeks should elapse from the time we receive your application form to the time when you receive the result of the interview.

Step 4: Confirmation

Following your interview one of the following will happen:

you will be offered a place on the course you have applied for on the condition that you have or achieve the qualifications needed to meet the entry criteria

or

you will be offered an alternative course more suitable for you

or

you will be advised to meet with a Connexions advisor.

Once you have been successful in securing a place on a course you will be invited in for a Taster Day, this will give you another opportunity to take some sample lessons, find out more about your course, meet the staff that will be working with you and also to meet the other students that will be starting the course with you. This usually takes place in June and July.

In August we run GCSE drop in days for students who are concerned about their results or want to discuss their course options further.

All new students attend an Enrolment day at the end of August/beginning of September. This is when you register for your course, pay any materials fees, sort out bus passes and apply for the Educational Maintenance Allowance if applicable.
