Effective, enjoyable classes for all ages and abilities. Exercises to improve/maintain fitness. Work at your own level. There is a continuation course next term.
You will follow this basic pattern for each session:- A warm up, consisting of a pulse raiser, mobiliser and short stretch, which prepares the body for the aerobic section. The aerobic section is a mixture of high and low impact exercises. The tutor will show you alternatives to exercises so that you can work at your own level. The cool down includes exercises to lower your pulse, muscular strength and endurance exercises (for the tummy, thighs and improved posture)then a cool down stretch and a remobiliser to finish. Routines will be varied to incorporate different styles (cha cha cha, charleston, modern, jazz, pop). Enjoying moving is important. Wear comfortable clothes (tights and leotard or T-shirt, track suit bottoms etc.) Please bring a mat for floor work (can be purchased at Argos or Sports Shop) or a thick towel or blanket. Aerobic shoes must be worn to provide support and absorb shock. Bring bottled water or something to drink to re-hydrate the body.
Abingdon and Witney College is subject to Ofsted visits and have a responsibility to ensure we meet/exceed their requirements. As a result of this you will find you will be expected to understand the government initiatives around Safeguarding, Prevent and Fundamental British Values as well as complete quality monitoring paperwork as part of the course.

No previous knowledge or experience is necessary. The course is for anyone who is interested in developing a regular exercise regime to maintain or improve their fitness levels. You will work at your own pace. Developing an enjoyment of exercise and movement is considered to be the most important outcome.
There are no entry requirements for this course.
Enrolment numbers to our courses are reviewed regularly. To avoid disappointment it is advised to enrol early. Course viability decisions are made two weeks prior to the course start date. Any course changes are communicated via email so please ensure you check your email accounts running up to the course start date.
On the first week of the course you will be required to bring along one form of identification. This could be a passport, driving licence, debit/credit card, Birth Certificate or National Insurance card.
Please Note: Students should be 19 years old or over at 31st August 2018.
As this is a mainly practical course teaching methods will be a mixture of demonstration and practice with 1 to 1 guidance from the tutor. As this is a non-accredited course informal methods of assessment will be used. These include self-observation, taste, discussion with your tutor and tutor observation.

Most courses offered by the college are fully or partly funded, the published fee takes account of that funding. Before you are accepted onto a course you will need to meet a number of conditions relating to your entitlement to funding e.g. your age, residency status within the UK/EEA and prior qualification level. In some circumstances (such as with online enrolments), these checks can only be completed after you have enrolled and paid.
