Course Overview

To introduce the proportions for portrait drawing and to familiarise the learner with the basic single and two-point perspective and drawing angles by sight

Course Content

On this course you will
Learn basic single and two-point perspective and drawing angles by sighting.
Be introduced to proportions for portrait drawing.
There will be an opportunity towards the end of the term for those joining in January to catch up with the skills covered in the previous term 9negative space, ellipses, spheres, cylinders, tone and 3D).
For the first session, please bring
A3 or A4 paper, pencils, charcoal putty rubber.
Learners are responsible for the purchase of their own materials. Abingdon and Witney College is subject to Ofsted visits and have a responsibility to ensure we meet/exceed their requirements. As a result of this you will find you will be expected to understand the government initiatives around Safeguarding, Prevent and Fundamental British Values as well as complete quality monitoring paperwork as part of the course.
Please note that there will be no class on 20/02/2019.

Entry Requirements

This course is open to beginners or those with little experience. Attendance of the previous term is desirable but not essential as beginners still can be assimilated into the class. There are no entry requirements for this course.

Enrolment numbers to our courses are reviewed regularly. To avoid disappointment it is advised to enrol early. Course viability decisions are made two weeks prior to the course start date. Any course changes are communicated via email so please ensure you check your email accounts running up to the course start date.

On the first week of the course you will be required to bring along one form of identification. This could be a passport, driving licence, debit/credit card, Birth Certificate or National Insurance card.

Please Note: Students should be 19 years old or over at 31st August 2018.

Learning Methods & Assessment

The main emphasis is practical and teaching methods will include demonstration, practice, pair and group work and 1 to 1 guidance from the tutor.
