Back of the net! College launches new Football Academy

Abingdon & Witney College is delighted to announce the launch of a new Football Academy. The Academy will provide students with an exciting opportunity to play football alongside getting a BTEC qualification.

The Football Academy is integrated into our BTEC programmes in Sport, Public Services, and Computing at Levels 2 and 3, at our Abingdon campus. We are looking for students who have played competitive football and who want to achieve excellence on and off the field.

Alongside a BTEC course in Sport, Public Services, or Computing, there will be two training sessions a week, on Tuesday and Thursday, and a match every Wednesday.

The Lead Coach at the Academy is Andy Cassettari, who has fifteen years experience in coaching at this level and has extensive contacts having previously worked for Oxford United in their local outreach programme.

If you’re interested in joining the Academy you need to apply to do a Sport, Public Services, or Computing course at Level 2 or 3. Applicants will then be selected following a football trial, to be held in June for any candidates who have already applied to Abingdon & Witney College or August for new applicants.
