Abingdon and Witney College Head of Apprenticeships, Jacqui Canton, says: “We’ve not done an event like this before so it’s a very exciting opportunity to invite in people of all ages, who are considering apprenticeships, and see if we can match them to ones we currently have available. Every time we do we’ll help them apply there and then so it’ll be a really practical event.”
More than 100 people have already started apprenticeships at the College through the initiative this year. The latest is 19-year old Amelia Wilson who has started a Business Administration Apprenticeship at De Vere Venues in Steventon, Abingdon. Amelia says: “I am extremely happy that I'm finally in a job I actually see a future in. I can't even express how thankful I am for this opportunity, and to anyone who is just thinking about apprenticeships, don't think. Do! Because you never know who you'll meet and what it could lead to!"
Nicola Dunphy at De Vere Venues says: “We have been incredibly impressed with the service from Abingdon and Witney College in helping us find our new apprentice. From start to finish the whole process has been so easy for us. From the very first initial telephone call to the candidate selection. I have had every confidence in the College’s Apprenticeship team. Our new apprentice has settled in very well, is already in direct contact with our customers. and seems as if she has always been here.”
