Professor Sean Wellington



Bio

Professor Sean Wellington joined Middlesex University in April 2019 as Pro Vice-Chancellor and Executive Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology.

Sean began his career in the engineering industry, initially as an Apprentice and then Engineering Technician with Marconi Defence Systems, progressing to hold senior leadership roles in higher education. He joined Middlesex from Oxford Brookes University where he was Associate Dean Strategy and Development in the Faculty of Technology, Design and Environment. He has been a Governor of Abingdon and Witney College since 2015.

Sean has taught a range of subjects in engineering and computing over more than thirty years. He is a Chartered Engineer, Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology and Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Research interests include higher education policy and practice, digital signal processing and information fusion.

– TEF Pilot Subject Panel Member – Engineering and technology (2017/18 & 2018/19)
– Member of the IET Education and Skills Policy Panel (2016 – date)
– Chair of the IET Academic Accreditation Committee (2014 – 2017)
– Member of Oxfordshire Skills Board (2011 – 2019)
